The bite remains strong on Okoboji! Catching a few walleye limmits....along with some nice smallmouth and beautiful giant bluegills. The Crawfords hit it big last week on West Okoboji with Bluegill, Crappie and Smallmouth.
The NEW Skeeter WX1900 with 200 Yamaha runs like a dream. Very comfortable ride and easy to fish. I LOVE IT! Thanks to Skeeter and Great Lakes Marine in Spirit Lake.
Fishing continues to be Great here in Okoboji!! Four cousins from Wisconsin, Minnesota and Iowa Had a great day on the lake with 3 out of 4 of them catching Master Angler white bass. 10 year old Max even caught a 7 lb Northern Pike. This past weekend Chris Berg had a day he'll not forget for awhile. Chris had a 21 inch Smallmouth bass, and 18 inch largemouth and a Big Norhtern pike among the notables. A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of taking some of the Okoboji students in Mr. Dau's outdoor adventure PE class out for a few hours. Junior Jordan Duncan caught the biggest fish of the day. A 16 1/2 inch Smallmouth. And, of course, my 9-year-old son Calvin has been getting a little time in on the water with me. One evening we caught two VERY nice largemouth, crappie and some pike. We're also picking up a few Walleyes out of season. April has been HOT!!! I've got plenty of openings this summer. Book your dates today. Don't forget....the walleye Opener is this weekend May 5th. If you haven't entered the Chamber of commerce Easer Seals Walleye Weekend contest....make sure you do so before Midnight Friday!!
The Ice is out and the fish are ON FIRE!! Unfortunately I'm still waiting for my new boat. Been fishing three times last week with a friend who was nice enough to take ME fishing We hammered the White Bass, Smallmouth, Yellow bass and Out-of-Season Walleyes for two days. The third day a cold front brought a 10-degree drop in teperature and a slower bite....but still had a blast. Taking a lot of May bookings. If you're planning a May trip lets get you in the book
This year's Ice Season has come to an end. Perch fishing on Big Spirit Lake was hit and miss at best. But West Okoboji sight fishing was hot and heavy. Most parties were lucky enough to catch their limmits of bluegill with a few bass and northern pike mixed in. Those who didn't limmit out came close. Spring open water fishing it next!!! Dealing on a new boat. Hopefully next time I see all of you I'll be picking you up in a 2012 Skeeter. Here are a few phootos from this years Ice season.
