The Okoboji Bite Is On !!

The Bite is Strong in Okoboji. As you can see by some of this past weeks photos.....the fish are jumpin in the boat.
Here's a shot of Max and Mark Thuringer with their limmits of Bluegill and plenty of perch and Yellow bass. Their goal was a fish fry for 15 people today. Looks like they met their goal. They also caught and released several larger bass.
Great day....and Great time of year to catch fish on Okoboji.

I HAVE PLENTY OF OPEN DATES IN JULY. LETS GO CATCHEM!

Tom Jessen's Norhern Pike

Another Milestone in my boat today. I think Tom Jessen may have caught the heaviest pike ever in my boat today. The pike measured over 37 inches without the tail pinch. But the girth and size of the head and body were truely impressive. I've had clients with 38-inchers and even a 39-inch pike once. But none were as heavy as this. This fish hit a small belgian worm under a bobber on 8 lb test. I thought for awhile we were fighting a catfish. It took several minutes for the fish to come up so we could see it. What a fight....and a great job landing and releasing the fish Tom.

Denny Walker 11-inch Bluegill !!

Denny Walker from Omaha caught this 11 inch bluegill on last sunday. This is the second largest gill I've ever had on my boat. The largest gill I've had in my boat was an 11 1/2-inch goliath caught by a boy from Omaha 6 years ago. Very impressive fish Denny!

Bass Fishing on West Okoboji

Davied Hunter Jones, Senior Writer from Bassmaster Magazine landed this nice largemouth on West Okoboji Wednesday June 1. I was fotunate enough to have David and Hunter Cole from Pure fishing on the water all day Wednesday as part of the unveiling of the Berkley's new NANOFIL fishing line. This new line is a game changer....I'm sure many of you will get to try it when it hits the market this summer. It casts nearly twice the distance of other lines and handles very nicely. This largemouth was one of many we caught that day. But we struggled with the walleyes. We tried to get David his very first walleye but had a very tough time.David Hunter Jones Bassmaster Magazine
